I've been able to overclock to about 4Ghz (running stock now though). The problem must lie somewhere with the drivers...hm. CPU encoding currently in most cases will generate the best quality. Also if you plan on using your current Windows install you might be so unlucky that you cannot boot up with a change in motherboard.
