My ZoneAlarm is a few years old and I'm running Windows XP and suddenly it popped up a yellow warning about this "LSA Shell - Export Version" and I see that https://www.zonealarm.com/forums/showthread.php/49030-LSA-Shell-(Export-Version) Newer Than: Search this thread only Search this forum only Display results as threads Useful Searches Recent Posts More... Thanks so much... the start>run>shutdown-a command worked like a charm and since I downsloaded zone alarm pro all has been well (it's only been an hour!).

I have done some more research on this LSA Shell. I've run the Antivirus scan in full, used Symantec's Sasser removal tool which didnt locate the Virus at all &also ensured that it is fully patched with the correct service pack Now all of a > sudden, > > I'm getting an error message in a warning dialogue box which says, > "LSA > > Shell (Export Version) encountered a problem". What do i do to stop them from coming back?

The alert states: LSA Shell (Export Version) is trying to communicate with C;\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe -service by opening its process. The search came back with the results of isass.exe and identified it as spy ware, however, lsass.exe is different from isass.exe. after the system scan and deletion of files infected...they come back again. The problem appeared to be a corruption of a piece of the redunant antivirus software that had left itself in the system.

Not only does it divert the focus of the thread away from the original poster's problem, but it also makes it less likely that you yourself will get the individual attention
