If you do enjoy this story, I know you are pretty messed up and frustrated by this problem too. Once i restarted my computer my mouse and keyboard wasn;t recognizing on my machine. Please say if they are stupid or if you have better ideas. Once you restore, you should be good to go and have access to your keyboard and mouse again. It is possible that a power feedback damaged the USB port so try another one. It's as if there is a memory of the same error somewhere saved within the desktop.
Reboot no help. Try borrowing another keyboard. Restored the computer and the keyboard and the mousepad are responding. Until then, all "upgrades" are on hold.
I have clear my BIOS all over again, jjust to be able to get to safe mode. When I plug other USB devices, they can draw power from the PC with no problem. I was hoping those guys could help me with installing a disc drive, but every time I followed one of their suggestions, they ended up making my problem even worse. You really need to get this one sorted before you do anything else.You could also try the Ultimate Boot CD to test the hardware for faults it's available for download here
